About US
Minnesotans for Responsible Recreation
Background
MRR was founded in Duluth in 1996 uniting a chorus of citizens and elected officials opposed to a cross-town state snowmobile trail. Over the past ten years MRR has worked statewide to protect Minnesota's communities, parks, and trails from the irresponsible development and unwanted effects of motorized recreation in all its forms. In 1999 MRR published a landmark report, "Off-Highway Vehicles in Minnesota" documenting the unwanted effects of ATVs, dirt-bike motorcycles and four-wheel drive trucks and the policies and practices encouraging these effects. In 2003, the Minnesota Legislative Auditor released its Program Evaluation Report: "State Funded Trails for Motorized Recreation".
In 2006, MRR synthesizes ten years of experience and the recommendations from our report and audit to challenge public funding of motorized recreation. On March 8 MRR unviels our "Toolkit for the Quiet Majority" to challenge public funding of motorized recreation. In 2006, MRR also opens our new Art of Quiet Places gallery and releases unviels our new "values tour" video. MRR launches new campaigns and celebrates 10 years of accomplishments in 2006!
MRR is a 501 c3. Find public data about MRR to the left.
