The Vilas County Board of Supervisors should be commended for letting democracy work tonight and giving the people a voice on an issue that could potentially change the North Woods quality of life. In a vote which will draw state and national attention, the people will have a chance to vote for the roar of engines year round in our woods and through waterways, or whether natural beauty, peace and quiet has a value in their lives.

Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved by the Vilas County Board of Supervisors in session on this 23rd day of September, 2003, that, pursuant to Wis. Chapter 59.52(25), an advisory referendum shall be held concurrent with the February 17, 2004 election to ascertain the voters’ feelings on the following question:

Do you favor allowing the operation of All Terrain Vehicles on County-owned and County Forest Lands in Vilas County?
